Joe joined Bluesky in 2016 following a political tenure as the Liberal Member of Parliament for the Eastern Ontario riding of Leeds-Grenville from 1997 to 2004. During his time on Parliament Hill, he was the former Parliamentary Secretary to Prime Minister Jean Chrétien, the former Parliamentary Secretary to the President of the Treasury Board, and in 2003, was sworn to the Queen’s Privy Council for Canada.
As a member of Bluesky Strategy Group, Joe has been successfully representing a diverse range of clients for the last twelve years, including national associations, non-profits, global energy leaders and international financial services companies. His unique combination of business, government and communications experience results in objectives and implementation strategies that build consensus and align interests.
Since leaving active politics, Joe was also a founding partner in a renewable energy company that developed several solar projects in Eastern Ontario. As well, he returned part-time to his teaching roots, where he regularly lectures at several Canadian and American universities, including designing and delivering the Government Relations course at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto. In 2006, 2010 and 2011 he was awarded the Teaching Excellence Award from the University of Toronto. He writes and speaks extensively on the relationship between business and government.
