What We Delivered

Recent services and support have been focused on two primary issues:

  • Bluesky was involved in the lead-up to the papal apology for residential schools. This included participation in the planning of both the visit to Rome and the subsequent visit and events surrounding the Pope’s visit to Canada. A member of Team Bluesky travelled with former National Chief Phil Fontaine, identifying and delivering international and national media relations coverage, and on-the-ground logistics support.  This resulted in national and international coverage including interviews with national Canadian media and international outlets including the New York Times, Associated Press and Washington Post.
  • Bluesky has also been working with the AFN and Regional Chief Woodhouse, providing strategic advice, communications support and media relations and training to support the portfolio holder through the negotiations for the final settlement agreement to address and compensate for the discriminatory practices within the First Nations child welfare system. This has included tailored media training sessions, ongoing strategic counsel and proactive and reactive media relations.
