DIGITAL MARKETING SPECIALIST

We are seeking a mid-level (2 to 5 years experience) Digital Marketing Specialist to join our expanding digital practice. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in Canadian federal politics, deep understanding of the Canadian media landscape, demonstrated expertise in digital marketing, with a track record of integrating digital campaigns with earned media strategies. Exceptional writing skills are essential. Bilingual (French/English) is an asset.
Key Responsibilities
Government & Public Affairs
- Leverage knowledge of Canada’s federal government and parliamentary processes to shape digital strategies.
- Monitor political developments and media landscape trends and identify opportunities to engage clients’ priorities in the digital space.
- Translate complex policy and political issues into compelling digital content.
Digital Strategy & Campaigns
- Plan, develop, and execute national and highly targeted digital campaigns across platforms (social media, streaming services, podcast advertising, display media).
- Identify and segment audiences to maximize reach and impact, using data-driven insights.
- Manage the day-to-day execution of digital campaigns, including optimization, monitoring, and reporting.
Content & Communications
- Draft high-quality copy for social media, digital ads, e-newsletters, websites, and multimedia campaigns.
- Support thought leadership by preparing digital-ready content for client and internal initiatives.
- Ensure messaging is consistent with client objectives, accessible, and audience-focused.
Creative & Asset Production
- Collaborate with designers and vendors to develop high-quality creative assets.
- Basic skills in graphic design, video editing, and production are considered strong assets.
- Exercise a strong understanding of digital asset formats and deploy them effectively across all stages of the marketing funnel.
- Oversee the development, organization, and lifecycle management of digital assets, ensuring alignment with brand standards and campaign objectives.
Analytics & Reporting
- Track and measure performance of campaigns against KPIs and client goals.
- Provide insights and recommendations for optimization and long-term digital strategies.
Qualifications
Experience & Background
- 2–5 years of professional experience in digital marketing, public affairs, or political communications.
- Direct experience working in or with the federal government (e.g., Parliament Hill, political campaigns, or federal agencies).
- Must be eligible to work in Canada.
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong grasp of digital marketing tactics, tools, and platforms: paid/organic social, SEO, programmatic, podcasting, streaming, and digital ad buys.
- Excellent writing and editing skills; ability to adapt tone for political, corporate, and public audiences.
- Proven ability to support and execute media relations strategies, including when required, comfort with proactive pitching and building relationships with journalists.
- Bilingualism (French/English) strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva) and video production/editing software an asset.
- Hands-on experience planning, buying, optimizing, and reporting on paid digital advertising campaigns across platforms and media channels (e.g., Meta, Google, search, display, programmatic, and social), including budget allocation, targeting, A/B testing, and performance measurement for advocacy- or issue-based initiatives.
- Strong understanding of emerging AI trends and applications in communications and marketing, with the ability to integrate appropriate tools into day-to-day work. Experience using generative AI tools to enhance creative production, content optimization, and digital campaign execution.

Our office
- Full-time role (5 days/week)
- Hybrid work model with minimum 4 days/week in-office (Ottawa)
- Occasional early/late hours based on parliamentary cycles, client deadlines, and events; occasional travel may be required.
